1. I am newer to the area, but had not yet established care with a vet. I am so grateful that I found Heartland Vet Hospital. My sweet boy, Leo, wasn't doing so well and I was in a hurry to find a good vet to examine him. I called with the hopes of maybe being seen in a week or so. By the grace of God, I was able to get Leo in to be seen that day. He was treated so well by all of the staff and they were all so kind. We had a follow-up appointment a few days later for some imaging. Unfortunately, our worst fears became a reality - our sweet dog had cancer. Dr. Hartnagel was so patient with me as she answered all of my questions and helped me understand all of the options. Leo passed away at home peacefully a few days later. Heartland Vet Hospital sent us the sweetest card with sympathies from the staff. I am so thankful for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time. I will be forever grateful for their amazing care.

  2. We were there on the worst possible day of any pet lover's life. The vet and staff were incredibly comforting. They stayed late and answered any and all questions. They made a very dark day bearable. And for that, I will be forever grateful. Their caring attitudes, patience and compassion was beyond spectacular. I miss "my girl".

  3. I cannot say enough good things about this excellent veterinary clinic. If you are looking for a place where the doctors truly care about both you and your pet and they are not just interested in how much they can charge you, this is the place. The staff is incredibly nice and compassionate. I called as a first-time client when my cat was very ill. (Our own vet had retired.) They worked me in right away (admittedly, they were not my first call because I didn't know about them) and I felt a sense of relief when I got there. The staff at the front desk were professional and polite, and the tech (Kyla)was more of the same, and very caring. I had a long conversation with Dr. Boeren who was very kind and professional and made suggestions about things we could try. I ended up having to bring him back the following day and since it was her day off, I saw Dr. Ohms, who spent a great deal of time talking to me and explaining things. Very caring, compassionate, and down-to-earth. He allowed me to ask questions and made some good suggestions. I feel they did everything they possibly could for my 18+ year-old cat, and I appreciate it more than I can say. The charges surprised me only because I expected it to cost much more. And, by the way, Suzanne at the front desk was amazing! She took more time with me than she probably could spare, and followed up with a phone call later. So if you are still looking for the right place to take your pet for anything, please try Heartland. You will be so glad you did.

  4. I took my 7 year old lab here this afternoon after going back and forth with Hawthorne animal hospital for months after diagnosing my dog with Osteosarcoma. After coming to Heartland, we won’t go anywhere else. We felt at home and from the way they handled my dog to the situation at hand was nothing short of amazing under the circumstances. They gave him cheese (his favorite treat) and loved on him his entire visit. We came here as a last ditch effort and second opinion on our dog’s condition. Unfortunately his cancer did spread and he suffered a pathological fracture but the staff and Dr. Hartnagel We’re so compassionate and really took their time going over options. On top of all that, the pricing was so much cheaper than hawthorne which was a bonus. We will use this clinic for future pets. Highly recommend this vet clinic ❤️

  5. My dog is a very nervous dog and they made her feel welcome and well cared for when I brought her in. This is her first vet in Illinois and the experience was amazing. Everyone is great there :)

  6. Always have a wonderful experience at Heartland Veterinary Hospital. Have been going there for several years. They are wonderful with my dog. Dr Ohms is terrific. Always spends time with me explaining every detail. Shelby is awesome also. Does really good with my Macy. All the staff is wonderful. Recommend this place highly.

  7. Took my leopard gecko Cheeto here for a vet visit. We drove over 2.5 hours because they were the closest exotic vet that would see him. He had plugs on his underside that were successfully removed and was given pain medicine to help him recover. The staff here were all so kind, especially the exotic vet and the receptionist who booked his appointment (yesterday) and saw us when we came in(today). The vet gave us husbandry and general care advice without being rude or accusatory and it was so refreshing to hear. She had us in and out in less than two hours and I am so confident he will make a full recovery. He seems a lot more comfortable now and I can't thank everyone here enough for saving his life.

  8. We had a cat that vomited for 3 days despite our efforts at home. Called Heattland as our vet was closed. They were able to get us right in and took excellent care of my girl and us. The vet (i cant remember her name) sat down with us after the evaluation to go over her thoughts for differential diagnosis and options to move forward. All logical and practical. We were in and out in a reasonable time. Everyone there was so nice and caring!

  9. I absolutely love this vet. They are so caring. I’ve brought 2 of my pets here now, my dog and my new kitten. They listen to all of your concerns and I couldn’t appreciate them more. They got both of my pets in extremely quick and took such good care of them❤️

  10. Unfortunately, we needed Heartland to assist our beautiful old girl Maggie in crossing the rainbow bridge. From the moment I called to make the appointment, the same day, the staff was so kind. They offered us as much time with our girl as we needed, and wanted, during each step of the process. Of course we had questions, and the doctor and techs explained every step and answered all our questions so we understood what to expect. Everyone was so gentle and loving with our Maggie. Each staff member we spoke to was extremely understanding, kind, and respectful. I can't speak highly enough about Heartland and how helpful they were during this time in our lives. Should we decide to get another pet in the future, we'll definitely bring them here. Maggie and our family thank you for making this transition be as loving as it could be.
